New Kid

If I had to show a new student around I would show them around campus. Then I would tell them where all their classes where. Next, I would tell them all the teachers names and then tell them about the sport teams.

Easter

Easter in our family has always been treated like another day. The only thing we get is Easter candy. When I was little Easter was never a big deal; the only year it was a big deal was when it was on my birthday. All I got for my birthday that year was a stuffed rabbit and some candy. Nothing memorable happened on Easter because it was the same every year.

Mexico Cartel

The situation in Mexico is horrible and I feel like it could have been prevented. A situation like this doesn't appear overnight and doesn't escalate fast. There were many events that caused the violence to grow and the drugs to increase. This problem has probably been going on for a long time but now that is has grow so bad the governments have to take action. The war will probably end with lots of deaths and blood spilled over problems that should have been taken care of in their early stages.

I think that drugs become a big deal with it sends a whole country into chaos. I also feel like the situation with Michael Phelps is a bigger deal then they made it out to be. That situation causes me to sorta agree with the fact that America has a hand in the violence that is connected to the drugs in Mexico. If a person, no matter how famous or important gets caught with drugs and we say it's not a big deal, what are we saying to other countries? Drugs are definitely a big deal.

I think the only way to stop drugs from taking over a town or country is to stop the problem before it reaches its final stage. There are signs that will warn you of what is going on and waiting for it to get as bad as it will is pathetic.

Shorter Summers

I don't agree with how Arne Duncan wants to deal with education. He says that we are at a disadvantage because we have shorter school years then countries like India and China. He also says that we need to know how we stack up against the students in India and China. I don't understand why he thinks we need to change our school system to compete with other countries when none of the other countries have done that. He also talks about the drop out rate, but doesn't he realize the drop out rate will only increase the more the school year increases. In my opinion, that is  a domino effect waiting to happen. Staying in school longer won't stop people from dropping out, if anything it will increase the drop rate. I don't feel think he has put much thought into how increasing the school year will effect the drop out rate because he is so concerned with how we compare to students in other countries.

Cloning

I believe that while cloning is a fun idea in movies, in real life it is disturbing, at least to me. The idea that they can create an exact replica of a dog or sheep is pushing science a little to far. It seems like they are trying to make science fiction reality and next time instead of cloning, you'll probably hear how they are trying to make a time machine. Just because cloning is an option doesn't mean it should be done. It doesn't feel right to me to have a pet cloned just because you love it so much. It freaks me out that they are actually cloning things in real life. It seems like something out of a bad sci-fi movie. I feel like scientist are gong to far to with the cloning. Not everything in life needs to be explored, and cloning falls into that category for me. Humanity has to have limitations and it seems like scientist don't get that if they are willing to go as far as cloning. If people are letting scientist clone living, breathing things, what's going to stop them from doing other things that can be potentially more dangerous and hazardous to our future.
